Custom Release Liners
Engineered custom release liners with tailored release levels, differential dual-side release, clarity options, and metallized antistatic for demanding adhesive converting applications.
Overview
ALS Tape engineers custom release liners matched to specific adhesive chemistries, converting processes, and end-use performance requirements. Chemical compatibility between the release coating and the adhesive is verified to ensure the liner functions independently without affecting adhesive performance on the application substrate. Filmic properties are customizable across a range from transparent to low-haze clarity, with matte finish options and metallized PET constructions for antistatic requirements. Single-sided release (C1S) and differential dual-sided release (C2S) are available, with the differential construction providing two distinct peel force levels on opposing liner faces for sequential liner removal during assembly. Custom printing on the liner is available for part identification and assembly guidance. Release liners are engineered to withstand converting process conditions and to perform across extreme service temperatures from -90°C to 175°C and in high-humidity environments.

FAQ
What is differential release and when is it needed?
Differential release means the two faces of a C2S liner have different peel force levels — one side releases easier than the other. This is used in double sided tapes and multi-step assembly workflows where one liner must be removed before the other.
What temperature range can custom release liners withstand?
Custom release liners are engineered to perform across a service temperature range of -90°C to 175°C and in high-humidity conditions, depending on the liner substrate and silicone release chemistry selected.
Why does the release liner affect adhesive performance?
If the release coating is chemically incompatible with the adhesive, silicone transfer can occur, which contaminates the adhesive surface and reduces bond strength on the application substrate. Proper liner selection prevents this.
Can release liners include printed part identification?
Yes. Custom printing on the liner surface is available for part numbers, assembly sequence instructions, QR codes, and branding, which is particularly useful in high-mix converting and assembly workflows.
